The Cure for Worry
The Cure for Worry. Matthew 6:25–34KJV The antidote to anxiety is not in trying harder—but in trusting deeper. Jesus calls His followers to trade worry for worship, panic for prayer, and anxiety for abiding in God’s provision. Worry is a symptom of misplaced priorities and a lack of trust in God. Jesus gives a clear cure: Put God first, and let Him handle the rest.In this powerful portion of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus addresses one of the most universal struggles—worry. He begins by commanding His followers not to be anxious about their lives: food, drink, clothing, or the future (v. 25). He uses the birds of the air and the lilies of the field to illustrate God’s faithful provision (vv. 26–30).Worry doesn’t add anything to our lives—it steals peace, shortens joy, and reveals little faith (v. 27). Jesus reminds us that our Heavenly Father already knows what we need (v. 32).Then He gives the ultimate solution in verse 33:”But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”When we put God’s will, God’s work, and God’s way first in our lives, He promises to provide everything else we need.Don’t let worry dominate your heart. God knows, God sees, and God provides. If He feeds the birds and clothes the flowers, surely He will take care of His children.Seek Him first—and let peace replace panic.
