Finishing Strong in a Fadin…
Finishing Strong in a Fading World. Genesis 25:1–10 KJV
I see the final chapter of Abraham’s life unfold. Despite his advanced age, Abraham continues to live with purpose—remarrying Keturah and fathering more children. I can almost see old Abraham sitting on the porch of his tent, reflecting on his life, thinking of Sarah, remembering Isaac’s miracle birth, and now watching these new little ones running around—Zimran with a sling, Midian climbing trees, and Ephah chasing goats. The old man had lived long enough to see God’s faithfulness.Yet even in this, he remains faithful to God’s promise, giving Isaac the full inheritance while sending Keturah’s sons away with gifts. Abraham dies at 175, “full of years,” and is buried by his sons Isaac and Ishmael in the cave of Machpelah, beside Sarah. This passage highlights a powerful message: though the world around us may fade, we can finish strong by holding to God’s calling, leaving a legacy of faith, and walking in obedience until the end.
Abraham’s life didn’t taper off into insignificance—he stayed active, intentional, and faithful. His story reminds us that a strong finish comes not from striving for earthly greatness but from trusting in God’s promises and living with eternity in view.
