Lesson 9 : Devotional Reading
Lesson 9 : Devotional Reading. This lesson challenges men to recognize that every day presents a crossroads—a choice between walking in the wisdom of God’s Word or following the influence of the world. Psalm 1 introduces us to the man who lives by the Book, a man whose life is shaped by deliberate, godly decisions rather than cultural pressure or convenience.First, we examined the road he refuses. Psalm 1:1 teaches that a blessed man is careful about where he walks, whose counsel he follows, and where he stands. He refuses the path of the ungodly, knowing that character is slowly shaped by the voices we listen to and the influences we allow. Spiritual strength begins with saying no to what pulls us away from God.Next, we explored the refreshment he receives. According to Psalm 1:2, this man delights in the law of the Lord and meditates on it day and night. God’s Word is not a burden to him—it is nourishment. Through daily engagement with Scripture, his faith is renewed, his perspective is shaped, and his hope is strengthened. The Word becomes both his guide and his joy. Finally, we considered the results he reaps. Psalm 1:3 describes a life rooted like a tree planted by rivers of water—stable, fruitful, and enduring. A man grounded in God’s Word produces spiritual fruit, remains steady through adversity, and experiences lasting success that aligns with God’s purpose rather than worldly gain. This lesson reminds us that the path we choose today determines the life we build tomorrow. A man who lives by the Word builds not only for this life, but for eternity—standing firm at the crossroads of faith and hope.
