Lesson 6: Character Study
Lesson 6: Character Study. Hebrews 12:1–2 KJV In this week’s Bible study, we explored the Character Study method—learning to understand Scripture through the lives and lessons of real people God used throughout the Bible. Hebrews 12:1–2 reminds us that the Christian life is a marathon, not a sprint. We are surrounded by a “great cloud of witnesses”—men and women of faith whose testimonies, trials, and triumphs still speak to us today.
We learned that studying a character like Abel, Noah, Joseph, Job, or Paul helps us see how faith works in real life. Their stories teach endurance, patience, and obedience under pressure. We discovered how to lay aside every “weight” that slows us down and fix our eyes on Jesus—the Author and Finisher of our faith.
A Character Study allows us to trace a spiritual trait (like patience, faith, or humility) through the experiences of God’s people and apply those same lessons to our own walk. It’s about finding yourself in their story—then finding Christ at the center of it all. When you feel weary, remember:
• The Witnesses inspire you.
• The Weights can be laid aside.
• The Wonder—Jesus—strengthens you to finish the race.
Keep your eyes on Him, and keep running faithfully until you hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”
