Lesson 3: Chapter/Verse Study
Lesson 3: Chapter/Verse Study.Psalm 119:105 KJV In this lesson, we learned the value of slowing down and carefully studying either a single chapter or verse of Scripture. A Chapter/Verse Study allows us to mine the treasures of God’s Word by looking at the details, the flow, and the message of even the smallest portion of the Bible.
1. What is a Chapter/Verse Study?
It is a focused approach where one isolates a chapter or verse to uncover its meaning, context, and application. Instead of rushing through many passages, the goal is depth, not speed.
2. How to Do a Chapter/Verse Study:
Use these 4 steps:
1.Choose a Verse or Chapter
2.Observe Carefully
3.Interpret the Meaning
4.Apply Personally
o Read carefully – Observe the words and phrases.
o Check the context – What comes before and after?
o Define key words – Use simple word studies in Hebrew or Greek.
o Ask questions – Who is speaking? Why was it written? How does it apply today?
o Apply the truth – Move from information to transformation.3. Practicing with Psalm 119:105:By focusing on one verse, we saw how God’s Word is not just information but illumination. Like a lamp in darkness, Scripture guides our daily steps and lights the path of our life. Without the lamp, we stumble; with it, we walk in safety, direction, and confidence. This method reminds us that one verse, carefully studied, can shape our thinking, strengthen our faith, and direct our decisions.
