The Temptation: To Rely on G..
The Temptation To Rely on God and Not Yourself. Deut.8:2-10;Matt. 4:1-4 We all have limits we struggle to accept.Self-reliance is like a drug.It promises quick relief, but it has serious side effects that cause :affliction” (pain and suffering) in our lives. We become unfaithful:Our hearts stray from God and others. We become underdeveloped:We don’t grow.We become unbelieving:We don’t see good things happening even when they do.We become unfruitful:Our lives feel barren. We become unattached and we feel alone.Self-reliance make us plan and take actions by ourselves instead of trust and relying on God.Just as their is negative side effects from the drug of self reliance. When we trust the Lord:We live God-reliant lives and have a source of confidence.God-reliance overcomes the fear of the hardest circumstances and we get courage. When we are God-reliant we will be able to produce the fruit of helping ourselves and others change, no matter what challenges we face.It requires trusting that God not only cares but also is real and able to make a difference in all our lives.
