Remembering To Give Thanks!
Remembering To Give Thanks! Deuteronomy 8:10 Throughout the Scripture, we hear the call to give thanks. How terrible not to be grateful to God, and yet in America all around we can find those who are grumbly hateful rather than humbly grateful. The purpose, of this scripture, was to warn the Israelites not to forget God when their needs and wants were satisfied. Let your table prayers serve as a constant reminder of the Lord’s goodness to you and your duty to those who are less fortunate. There’s peril in prosperity and comfort, for we may become so wrapped up in the blessings that we forget the One who gave us the blessings. For this reason, Moses admonished the Jews to praise God after they had eaten their meals so they wouldn’t forget the Giver of every good and perfect gift. Have you ever stopped to think about how you will be remembered? You can’t control the problems that come into your life—all the events that could be summed up in the phrase “In everything give thanks.” But you can control how you respond.
Thanksgiving delivers us from a victim mentality and gives us a victor’s mentality.
