Overcoming Sin – Living in …
Overcoming Sin – Living in Victory.1 John 1:9;Rom. 6:12-14 KJV This lesson addresses the reality of sin in the life of a believer and the hope of victory made possible through Jesus Christ. While sin separates us from fellowship with God, Scripture assures us that forgiveness and cleansing are always available. First John 1:9 reminds us that when we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us from all unrighteousness, restoring our relationship with Him.We began by gaining a better understanding of sin and its effects. Sin damages our spiritual growth, weakens our testimony, and disrupts our fellowship with God and others. Recognizing the seriousness of sin helps us develop a deeper desire to turn away from it and pursue righteous living. The lesson then focused on how believers can overcome sin. Romans 6:12–14 teaches that sin no longer has dominion over those who are in Christ. Through God’s grace, we are empowered to resist sin and choose obedience. Victory over sin requires daily surrender to God and a commitment to live according to His will rather than yielding to sinful desires. Finally, we explored the tools God has given us for victory over sin. Prayer, Bible study, confession, accountability, and dependence on the Holy Spirit all help believers stand firm against temptation. As we yield ourselves to God as instruments of righteousness, we can experience the freedom and victory that come from living under His grace.
