Lesson 13 – What Is a Baptis..
Lesson 13 – What Is a Baptist? – Understanding Our Faith and Commitment.Matthew 28:19–20; Acts 2:41–42 KJV In my bible study, we examined what it means to be a Baptist, focusing on the foundational beliefs and commitments that define our faith and practice. Being a Baptist is not simply about belonging to a denomination, but about holding to biblical truths and living them out faithfully.Acts 2:41–42 provides a picture of the early church, where those who received God’s Word were baptized and became part of a growing community of believers. They were committed to sound doctrine, fellowship, worship, and prayer. This passage highlights key Baptist distinctives: the importance of personal salvation, believer’s baptism, and active participation in a local church body.Matthew 28:19–20, known as the Great Commission, emphasizes our responsibility to share the gospel, make disciples, and baptize those who believe. Baptists strongly uphold this command, affirming that salvation comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and that baptism follows as an outward expression of that inward faith. This lesson also reinforces core Baptist principles such as the authority of Scripture, the autonomy of the local church, the priesthood of all believers, and the necessity of individual faith and accountability before God.Ultimately, being a Baptist means more than a label—it is a commitment to live according to God’s Word, to grow in faith, to support one another in fellowship, and to actively participate in fulfilling Christ’s mission.A Baptist is one who believes in personal salvation through Christ, follows Him in believer’s baptism, and remains committed to God’s Word,
