In Joshua 2, Rahab, though a harlot, recognizes the power and sovereignty of Israel’s God. When two Israelite spies arrive in Jericho, she hides them, risking her life. Rahab’s bold actions are driven not by fear of her king, but by reverent fear and faith in the Lord. Her words in verses 9–11 show deep conviction—she had heard of God’s mighty acts and believed He would give Israel the land. In return for her protection, the spies promise Rahab and her family safety. This promise is fulfilled in Joshua 6:22–25, when Jericho falls and Rahab’s household is spared. She is not only rescued but also given a place among the Israelites, becoming an ancestor of Jesus (Matthew 1:5).
