One Step Away Joshua 3:1-17 The Jordan has swelled its banks, spreading about a mile across, ranging in depth from 3 feet to 12 feet, all covering thick undergrowth that could easily trip someone up and cast them into an overwhelming current. This was the sight that greeted the multiple hundreds of thousands that pitched their tents alongside the river.Picture the greatest inheritance imaginable sitting out before a person, the longing for the inheritance gnawing away at the person’s heart. The inheritance is his; it has been promised and guaranteed. The person will receive the inheritance. But obstacles or barriers stand in the way, and they must be removed before he can receive the promised inheritance. The problem: a flooded Jordan (v.1). The message of faith: the only way to cross and enter the promised land—the way of faith (v.2-13). The walk of faith: the only way to experience the power of God (v.14-17).
