Jesus Shared
Jesus Shared. Acts 17:16–18, 22–23, 30–31 KJV In this lesson from Acts 17:16–18, 22–23, 30–31, we see how the apostle Paul shared the gospel while in the city of Athens, a place filled with idols, philosophies, and many different beliefs. When Paul saw how the people were devoted to false worship, his spirit was stirred with concern for their souls. Instead of remaining silent, he began speaking with people wherever he found them—in the synagogue, in the marketplace, and even with philosophers who questioned his message.Paul showed us that sharing the gospel begins with recognizing the spiritual needs around us. He noticed that the people were searching for truth but did not know the true God. Paul then built a bridge to the gospel by referring to an altar in the city labeled “To the Unknown God.” Using something familiar to his audience, he introduced them to the God they did not know. Finally, Paul clearly presented the truth about Jesus, calling people to repent because God has appointed a day of judgment and has given assurance of this through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This lesson reminds us that God places people in our everyday lives—at work, school, and in our communities—so that we can share the hope of the gospel. Our daily conversations can become opportunities to point others to Jesus Christ.
