THE GREATEST GIFT. Romans 5:6–11, 18–21 KJV In these verses, Paul describes the amazing depth of God’s love demonstrated through Christ’s sacrificial death. Humanity was helpless—”without strength,” ungodly, sinners, and even enemies of God. Yet Christ died for us, not when we were at our best, but at our worst. This act displays the greatest gift ever given: God’s grace in sending His Son to save the undeserving. Because of Christ’s death and resurrection, believers are justified, reconciled, and saved from God’s wrath. Our relationship with God is restored, and we now rejoice in Him, standing in a grace we did not earn.Paul then contrasts Adam and Christ. Through Adam’s sin came condemnation and death for all people. But through Christ—the “last Adam”—comes justification, righteousness, and life. God’s grace is not only greater than Adam’s sin, it overflows, abounding far beyond the reach of human failure. Where sin increased, grace increased even more. We were spiritually powerless, sinful, and hostile toward God—yet Christ died for us. Justification through Christ brings peace, reconciliation, and rescue from wrath.Adam’s disobedience brought death to all; Christ’s obedience brings the offer of eternal life. God’s grace is stronger, richer, and more abundant than sin. Salvation is a free gift—not earned, but joyfully received through faith.Sin brought death, but God’s grace through Jesus Christ brings life. The greatest gift ever given is salvation freely offered through the sacrifice of Christ.
