John the beloved Apostle. Luke 9:45-56;John 19:25-27;1 John 4:19-21Scripture and history record that John played a major role in the early church. He was a member of the Lord’s most intimate Inter Circle. He was chosen by no means as the dominant member of that group. He was the younger brother, brother of James, and although he was a companion to Peter. We see it in the chapters of the book of Acts. We’re reminded of how John always remained in the background. But John also had his leadership about him because he outlived all the others in a unique way. And a role for the early church that lasted nearly to the end of the 1st century and reached deep into Asia Minor. His personal influence was stamped on the primitive church. And almost everything that he observed about the personality and the character of all the other apostles. We see the humbleness of his heart and the love for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John was nicknamed the Apostle of Love. And he wrote, more than any of the other New Testament authors, of the importance of love, stressing on the Christians love for Christ and his love for the church and love for one another. That is supposed to be the hallmark of all true believers, and the theme of love flows through his writings. And as we look at his life. We’re reminded of how God changed his life the 3 1/2 years that they all come together. In the gospel accounts that tells us of the wonderful Determination to serve the Lord Jesus. To have a heart beating in him for Jesus.
