Mark says they saw “a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment” (Mark 16:5). Luke says “two men stood by them in shining garments” (Luke 24:4). Apparently, many angels were all about the tomb and the surrounding area attending Christ, joying and rejoicing over what God had done. At the right time, one angel appeared to the women, then two. Note that they appeared as men, that is, as messengers of God.
