Where’s the Beef?_09
Where’s the Beef_09Exodus 9:1-7The Fifth Plague—A Severe Disease Struck and Killed All Livestock in the Field: Proof That the Hand of God Controls the Animal Life of the World
1. The declaration of God’s Word, His will (v.1).
2. The warning of judgment (v.2-3).
3. The purpose of the judgment (v.3-5).
4. The day of judgment arrived (v.6).
5. The response to the judgment (v.7).
In the protection of Israel’s livestock in this plague, we have two similar phrases which also give us a good Gospel lesson—”Nothing die” (Exodus 9:4) and “not one” (Exodus 9:6). They remind us of the security of the believer.Jesus said, “I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand” (John 10:28).
No saved person, “not one,” will perish in his sins.
Both Pharaoh’s immobility and inactivity in this passage, and the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart, are signs of God’s sovereignty over him and judgment over him. The god of Egypt is being judged and God the Lord is being made known. The Lord, He is God. That’s the God we love. He’s not manageable, He’s not tamable, He’s not domesticated, and He is incapable of being domesticated. But, and this is your only salvation, He is for you if you trust in Christ. By His mercy, may you be in Christ.
God is the one who provides the beef and necessitates in your life and family.
