Now, I’m At a Stand Still Matt. 4:1-11 As believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we ought to allow His Word to search us, the circumstances of life to train us, and His Spirit to help us. I have never known a single Christian who did not experience standstill, or what we might call a “wilderness experience.” They are not designed to destroy us, but to develop us. They are not there to hurt us, but to help us. All who enter the wilderness experience come out better than they went in. Joseph’s many years in the prison prepared him for the palace. Moses forty years in a far country prepared him for his future work. Caleb waited many years for the mountain he wanted. Nehemiah wept five months in captivity before the work on the walls began. Paul spent fourteen out of thirty-one years in prison. In prison he penned many of the epistles which have blessed millions of souls. This wilderness did not hurt His ministry. and it will not hurt ours or hinder ours. In fact, our work for the Lord will probably be more fruitful after our most severe testing hour.
