“Truth Without Love Becomes Harsh — But Love Without Truth Becomes Empty”
Luke 11:37–54; Luke 12:1–3 KJV Jesus never ignored sin, but He never stopped loving sinners either. In Luke 11, Jesus sat at the table with the Pharisees and boldly exposed the sin that was hidden behind their religion. They looked holy on the outside, but their hearts were far from God. Then in Luke 12:1, Jesus warned His disciples, “Beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.” He was teaching that a little hypocrisy can spread through a person’s life just like yeast spreads through dough.This lesson reminds us that following Jesus means more than looking religious—it means having a clean heart before God. Jesus calls us to speak the truth with love, confront sin with compassion, and point people toward genuine repentance instead of empty religion.As we study these passages, we will discover that God is not looking for perfect people—He is looking for honest people who are willing to repent and be changed. We cannot hide our hearts from God because, according to Luke 12:2–3, everything hidden will one day be revealed. The good news is that the same Savior who exposes our sin also offers forgiveness, grace, and a brand-new life to everyone who turns to Him.Jesus loves us too much to leave us living in sin. He tells us the truth so He can change our hearts. When truth and love come together, lives are transformed, repentance becomes real, and God receives the glory.
