Stage Two: Obedient Love_03 (Learning the ways of Godliness) BELONGING 2 PETER 1:1-15 In chapter 1 Peter makes a bold promise, an astonishing guarantee. He says, in effect, “If you will just make an effort to develop certain qualities to your life, I guarantee that you will be productive and effective for the glory of God.”He’s not saying that these qualities will merely improve your chances for fulfillment in life, he’s guaranteeing it. And look what he guarantees: not just happiness, or success, but effectiveness and productivity. In other words, you will accomplish something great.We need to develop good practical knowledge, and we need to put it into practice with good actions. (Goodness, knowledge.)We need to develop self-discipline, and we need to keep trying till we get it right. (Self-control, perseverance.)We need to develop love, strengthening relationships with others and worshipping God as he deserves. (Godliness, kindness, love.)if I am to have them, then I must tread the path He has outlined and I must make looking to Him for “these things” and absolute priority in my life.If the Lord has touched an area of your life that needs some attention, please do what He would have you to do today and get down before Him and seek Him for what you need.
