The Importance of Character01
The Importance of Character. 1 Peter 1:1-11 KJV
I. God’s Provision for Christlike Character (2 Peter 1:1–3)
Peter reminds us that through knowing Christ, God has already given us everything we need for living a godly life. Our character doesn’t depend on our own strength, but on His divine power and promises.
II. Our Diligence in Growth (2 Peter 1:4–8)
God gives the foundation, but we must actively pursue growth. Peter outlines a progression of godly qualities—faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, patience, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. Developing character takes intentional effort, rooted in our relationship with Christ.
III. The Assurance of Our Salvation (2 Peter 1:9–11)
A lack of spiritual growth leads to spiritual blindness and forgetfulness. But when we diligently walk in these virtues, we gain confidence in our salvation and look forward to a rich entrance into God’s eternal Kingdom.
God equips us to reflect the character of Christ, but it is our responsibility to cultivate and walk in that character daily. When we do, we live fruitful lives and experience the assurance of belonging to Him.
