Application Point: May we not relinquish our responsibilities to someone else, but instead, take ownership over our sphere of influence so that the next generation might be changed for the good. It would be nice if every child thought of their mother the way the Bible depicts their importance, wouldn’t it? Have you heard this before? To a four-year-old, Mommy can do anything. To an eight-year-old, Mom knows a lot! To a twelve- year-old, Mom doesn’t know much of anything. To a sixteen-year-old, it’s not worth asking Mom, because she doesn’t know. To an eighteen-year-old, Mother is way out of date. To a twenty-five-year-old, Mom might know a thing or two. To a thirty-five-year-old, it’s probably best to consult Mom on this issue. To a fifty year-old, some wish they could consult Mommy. To a seventy-year-old, they often wonder what Mommy would have said about this. Though the source of this saying is unknown, the reality is that children often grow in stages of how they feel about their moms. Children, never be ashamed of your mom! Your mom has lived longer than you and is definitely worth consulting at every stage.
