A LOVE FOR OTHERS
A LOVE FOR OTHERS. LOVE IS ESSENTIAL — LOVE IS PRACTICAL — LOVE IS ETERNAL
1 Corinthians 13:1–13 KJV First Corinthians 13 teaches that Christian love is essential, practical, and eternal. Without charity, impressive words, knowledge, faith, giving, and sacrifice lose their spiritual value.
Biblical love is not merely an emotion; it is patient, kind, humble, unselfish, forgiving, truthful, hopeful, and enduring. Love does not keep score, rejoice in sin, or demand its own way.
It reflects the character of Jesus Christ in the way believers treat other people. Spiritual gifts and our present partial understanding are temporary, but charity never fails.
We are to love others as God loves us.
The lesson divides beautifully into three sections:
1 Corinthians 13:1–3 — Without love, our gifts and sacrifices amount to nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:4–7 — God’s love changes how we treat people.
1 Corinthians 13:8–13 — Love never fails and will endure forever.
God loved us first, and His love should now flow through us toward our families, our church, our neighbors, and those who need to see Jesus.
The great question is not merely, “How much do I know?” but “Am I becoming more like Christ by becoming more loving?”
