A HUMBLE ATTITUDE. Seeing Ourselves the Way God Sees Us 1 Corinthians 3:18–23; 4:1-7 KJV The Corinthian church struggled with pride, personalities, comparison, and human wisdom. Paul reminds believers that Christian life and ministry are not about making much of ourselves but making much of Jesus Christ.
We are servants and stewards, and God requires faithfulness. Paul’s question, “What hast thou that thou didst not receive?” brings pride to its knees.
Life, ability, opportunity, salvation, spiritual gifts, and strength to serve are gifts from God. A humble Christian acknowledges the Source, remains faithful with the stewardship, and gives God the credit for the results. Our prayer should be, “He must increase, but I must decrease.”Picture the donkey that carried Jesus into Jerusalem. The crowd lined the road, garments were spread, palm branches waved, and people shouted praise. Imagine if that donkey had thought, “They finally realize how important I am!” The praise was not for the donkey. It was for the One he was carrying.
