Truth Matters
Truth Matters.Proverbs 16:20–25; 30:1–6 KJVIn a post-Christian world where truth is often defined by personal opinion, cultural preference, or human reasoning, Scripture reminds us that truth does not originate within us—it comes from God alone. Proverbs exposes the danger of trusting our own understanding and highlights the necessity of grounding our lives in God’s revealed truth.
Proverbs 16 teaches that wisdom and blessing flow from trusting the Lord, not from self-confidence or clever reasoning. Human judgment can appear right while leading to destruction, revealing how unreliable personal perspective can be when separated from divine truth.
Proverbs 30 reinforces this lesson through humility and revelation. Agur models the proper posture for receiving truth—acknowledging human limitation and dependence on God. He declares that every word of God is pure, proven, and protective, serving as a shield for those who trust Him. Scripture is sufficient and must not be altered, supplemented, or reshaped by human opinion. In a culture increasingly shaped by subjective beliefs, believers must stand firmly on God’s Word as the final authority. Only truth rooted in Scripture can guide, protect, and faithfully communicate the gospel in a world that has lost its foundation.
