The Question of Human Condition Dead or Drawn?
[Total Depravity] Ephesians 2:1; Romans 3:11; John 1:9; Romans 10:13 (KJV) Humanity wrestles with a profound question: are we spiritually dead beyond hope, or are we being drawn by God’s grace to respond to His call? The Bible answers both: apart from Christ we are dead in sin, but God has not left us without hope.I. The Depth of Our Lostness (Total Depravity) – (Ephesians 2:1; Romans 3:11) Man is not merely weak or sick in sin—he is dead. Left to himself, he cannot reach God or save himself. Total depravity does not mean total worthlessness, but total inability apart from divine grace.II. God’s Drawing Grace – (John 1:9) The true Light of Christ shines into the darkness of every heart. God’s grace awakens, convicts, and calls all people. Though dead in sin, the Spirit draws us to life, offering every soul an opportunity to believe.III. The Whosoever Choice – (Romans 10:13) The invitation is universal, but the response is personal. God’s drawing does not cancel human responsibility. Every man and woman must choose whether to call upon the name of the Lord and be saved. This sermon reminds us that salvation is not man climbing up to God, but God coming down to man. The cross bridges the gap between our deadness and His life, between our inability and His grace. The question is not if God calls—the question is, will you answer?
