The Book of Nahum

The Book of Nahum in the Old Testament consists of three chapters and focuses on the prophecy of Nahum concerning the downfall of Nineveh, the capital of the Assyrian Empire. Chapter 1: The Wrath and Comfort of God. Nahum begins by declaring God’s wrath against Nineveh and Assyria. He describes God as jealous and avenging, bringing judgment on His enemies. Despite this fierce judgment, Nahum also offers comfort to Judah, assuring them that God will protect and restore His people. Chapter 2: The Siege and Fall of Nineveh. This chapter describes in vivid detail the siege and eventual fall of Nineveh. Nahum prophesies that the city will be surrounded by attackers and that its defenses will crumble. He vividly portrays the panic and destruction that will come upon Nineveh, emphasizing that its end is inevitable due to its wickedness and oppression of others. Chapter 3: Nineveh’s Wickedness and Judgment. Nahum continues his condemnation of Nineveh, highlighting its wickedness, deceit, and violence.
