Paul had stayed at Corinth for 18 months and he needed to get back on the mission field to evangelize.Paul had assumed A nazarite vow while at Corinth.We don’t’ know what the vow was but assume it was a act of Thanksgiving or of a dedication to God during the period of the vow, the devotee allowed his hair to grow and at the end of the period he cut his hair.Paul sat down in the barber chair when he left Corinth and arrived in the Port of Cenchrea.When a Christian separates himself unto the Lord, he is demonstrating the specialness of the Lord in his or her life.It’s when we forget ourselves that we do things that are remembered.
Dying to self involves control of yourself, especially when it comes to lustful living. In our own power, self control is extremely difficult.
The things of this life must be considered worthless or good-for-nothing, compared to Jesus Christ.Your biggest enemy, hindrance, or obstacle can be yourself. The tug-o-war that takes place between self-will and God’s will in our hearts is almost unceasing.
