The Answer to Your Doubts01

person Pastor Darrell Bailey

The Answer to Your Doubts. Luke 7:20-23John, who once boldly proclaimed Jesus as the Lamb of God, finds himself in prison, struggling with doubt. In his uncertainty, he sends his disciples to ask Jesus, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” This moment of doubt is surprising, given John’s previous certainty about Jesus’ identity. Yet, it speaks to a very human struggle—the tension between faith and doubt, especially in the midst of hardship.Through this passage, we explore how Jesus responds to John’s doubts not with condemnation, but with compassion and assurance. Jesus doesn’t give a direct “yes” or “no” answer, but instead points John to the evidence of His work: the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, and the dead are raised. Jesus’ miracles are the proof of who He is, and they fulfill the prophecy of the Messiah found in the Scriptures. The message reminds us that even the greatest of believers can wrestle with doubt, but Jesus is always the answer. When we face seasons of uncertainty, Jesus invites us to look to the evidence of His character and His promises. His works, His Word, and His presence in our lives are the proof we need to overcome doubt and reaffirm our trust in Him.
