2 Thessalonians

The Book of 2 Thessalonians is a New Testament epistle attributed to the Apostle Paul, written to the church in Thessalonica, a prominent city in Macedonia (modern-day Greece). Likely penned shortly after the first letter to the Thessalonians, around 50-51 AD, this second epistle continues to address issues pertinent to the early Christian community and provides further instruction and clarification on matters of faith and conduct. The Thessalonian church, founded during Paul’s second missionary journey, had experienced significant growth but also faced challenges, including persecution and confusion about the end times. Following his previous correspondence, Paul wrote this letter to address misunderstandings that had arisen concerning the second coming of Christ and to offer further encouragement and correction. 2 Thessalonians serves as an important follow-up to the first epistle, providing further instruction, encouragement, and correction.
