Should a Man Marry
Should a Man Marry 1 Corinthians 7:1-40 In this chapter, Paul will provide for all of us Biblical principles about sex, singleness, and marriage that are just as vital for us today as they were 2000 years ago. The apostle reveals the advantages and blessing of being single and serving the Lord and the challenges of being single. He also comments on the blessings and advantages of being married, how to nurture and be a blessing to your spouse, and the challenges of being married. Paul also provides simple, direct instructions on what to do if your spouse is unsaved, if your spouse dies, and what to do if separation or divorce from your spouse occurs. To properly understand the message and teachings of this chapter, it is critical that you take the entire chapter in context. If you don’t, you can get confused and miss the true meaning and message of what Paul is teaching us. In closing he tells those who are married that they are bound to their spouse until death. Death breaks the marriage bond. They are then free to remarry again if they wish, only to another Christian. Paul felt, however, that the best thing for a widow or widower to do was to remain single.
