“The goal was never to complete forty days. The goal was to become more like Christ in the way we love others.”
This lesson serves as a bridge between completing the 40-day challenge and the final celebration and testimony night on November 18, helping participants focus on lifelong transformation rather than simply finishing a study.
Finishing Strong: Living the Love Dare Daily

- Forgiveness and Grace
- Living the Love Dare Daily
“The Love Dare is not about becoming a better spouse, friend, or family member first—it is about becoming more like Jesus Christ.”
Introduction
Anyone can start something.
Few people finish well.
The Apostle Paul declared:
“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”
The goal of The Love Dare was never simply to complete forty days.
The goal was to develop a lifestyle of Christ-like love.
Tonight we celebrate finishing the challenge, but more importantly, we focus on continuing the journey.
Love is not a forty-day event.
Love is a daily commitment.
Scripture
1 Corinthians 13:7-8 KJV
“Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth…”
John 13:34-35 KJV
“A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.”
I. FINISHING THE RACE WELL
A. Finishing Requires Perseverance
Many people start with excitement.
Growth happens when we remain faithful.
The final days are just as important as the first days.
B. Growth Takes Time
Relationships are strengthened one day at a time.
Healthy habits are built through consistency.
C. Celebrate Progress
Thank God for every improvement.
Focus on progress rather than perfection.
Discussion Question
What has been the most valuable lesson you learned during the 40-day challenge?
II. DEVELOPING LIFELONG HABITS OF LOVE
A. Love Must Become a Lifestyle
The Love Dare was designed to build habits.
Habits become character.
Character shapes relationships.
B. Continue Practicing What You Have Learned
Continue:
- Speaking kindly
- Listening carefully
- Forgiving quickly
- Serving willingly
- Praying faithfully
C. Small Actions Make a Big Difference
Great relationships are built through small daily choices.
Little acts of love often have the greatest impact.
Discussion Question
Which Love Dare challenge made the greatest difference in your life?
III. KEEPING CHRIST AT THE CENTER
A. Christ Is the Source of True Love
Human love has limits.
God’s love never fails.
The closer we are to Christ, the better we can love others.
B. A Christ-Centered Relationship Is Stronger
When Christ is at the center:
- Communication improves
- Forgiveness becomes easier
- Unity becomes stronger
C. Love Is Our Witness to the World
Jesus said people would know His disciples by their love.
The world is watching how believers treat one another.
What practical step can you take to keep Christ at the center of your relationships?
Spiritual Insight
The Cross is not merely where love began; it is where love continues.
Every day believers must return by faith to what Christ accomplished at Calvary.
The Holy Spirit enables us to love beyond our natural ability.
The secret to lasting love is not human determination alone.
The secret is daily dependence upon Jesus Christ.
As we keep our faith anchored in Him, His love flows through us into every relationship.
Application
Ask yourself:
1. Have I completed the challenge, or has the challenge changed me?
Answer: True success is spiritual growth, not merely finishing forty days.
2. What habits do I need to continue practicing?
Answer: The habits that strengthen relationships should become part of daily life.
3. Is Christ truly at the center of my relationships?
Answer: Lasting love begins and ends with Jesus.
Challenge Questions
1. What lesson from The Love Dare do I never want to forget?
Answer: God’s love must guide every relationship.
2. What area of growth still needs attention?
Answer: Spiritual growth is a lifelong journey.
3. How can I continue demonstrating Christ-like love after this study ends?
Answer: Through daily obedience and dependence upon Christ.
Illustration
A marathon runner does not train for months simply to cross a finish line.
The finish line represents the reward for developing endurance, discipline, and perseverance.
Likewise, The Love Dare was never just about reaching Day 40.
The real victory is becoming a person who loves more like Jesus than when the journey began.
The finish line is actually the starting line for a new way of living.
