The Romans Road to Eternal Life

If you live in Taylorsville, Georgia, you probably know how to get to Cartersville, Rome, or Atlanta. But the most important question you will ever answer is this:
Do you know how to get to Heaven?
Jesus said in John 14:6 (KJV):
“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”
God has given us clear directions in His Word. Christians often call these verses The Romans Road because they are found throughout the Book of Romans. They show us God’s simple plan of salvation.
1. Realize That Everyone Is a Sinner
Romans 3:23 (KJV)
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
The Bible teaches that every one of us has sinned. No one is good enough to earn Heaven by good works, church attendance, baptism, or trying to be a better person.
Sin separates us from a holy God.
2. Understand the Penalty for Sin
Romans 6:23a (KJV)
“For the wages of sin is death…”
The payment for sin is eternal separation from God. Every person will one day stand before the Lord, and our sin must be dealt with.
But God did not leave us without hope.
3. Believe That Jesus Paid Your Debt
Romans 5:8 (KJV)
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
God loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for your sins. Jesus took the punishment that we deserved. He was buried, and on the third day He rose again, proving that He has power over sin and death.
4. Receive God’s Free Gift
Romans 6:23b (KJV)
“…but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Salvation is not something you earn—it is God’s free gift. It cannot be purchased, deserved, or worked for. It is received by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
5. Call Upon the Lord Today
Romans 10:9–10 (KJV)
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13 (KJV)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
God promises that anyone who sincerely turns to Christ in faith will be saved.
Would You Trust Christ Today?
Prayer itself does not save you—Jesus Christ saves those who place their faith in Him. If you believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again, you can call upon Him today.
A simple prayer might be:
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I believe You died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I ask You to forgive me, come into my life, and be my Lord and Savior. I place my trust in You alone for eternal life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
