At Bethel Crossroads Baptist Church – The Crossroads Sportsman Gathering

[Archery isn’t just a sport—it can help us learn how to follow God better every day.]

“As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.”— Psalm 127:4

 1. Aim at the Right Target

When you shoot a bow, you have to focus on the target.

What this teaches us:

  • Keep your eyes on God
  • Don’t let distractions pull you away
  • Make choices that honor Him

Just like in archery, you hit what you aim at—so aim your life at God.

 2. Practice Every Day

You don’t get good at archery overnight—it takes practice.

What this teaches us:

  • Read your Bible regularly
  • Pray often
  • Spend time learning about God

The more you practice your faith, the stronger it gets.

 3. It’s Okay to Start Over

Sometimes your shot doesn’t feel right—you stop and try again.

What this teaches us:

  • It’s okay to mess up
  • God gives us second chances
  • We can always turn back and try again

God cares more about your direction than your mistakes.

 4. Take Care of Your Gear

Archers take care of their bow and arrows so they work properly.

What this teaches us:

  • Take care of your heart and mind
  • Stay away from things that pull you away from God
  • Surround yourself with good people

Your life works better when you keep it healthy and focused on God.

5. Be Calm and Trust God

When you shoot, you have to stay calm and commit to your shot.

What this teaches us:

  • Trust God even when you’re nervous
  • Don’t let fear stop you
  • Have confidence that God is guiding you

Faith means trusting God and taking the step.

Archery teaches us that life with God takes focus, practice, patience, and trust.

If you follow Him, He will help you hit the target He has for your life.

This week:

  • Pray once a day
  • Read one Bible verse
  • Trust God with one thing that scares you
