WHEN GOD IS IN THE BUSH. [WHEN AN ORDINARY LIFE GETS FILLED WITH AN EXTRAORDINARY GOD] Exodus 3:1–6 KJV Moses encounters an ordinary desert bush that burns without being consumed. The wonder is not the bush itself but the presence of God in the bush. After forty years on the backside of the desert, Moses learns that past failure does not cancel God’s present call. When God is in the bush, God can speak through an ordinary vessel, but He must also have control of that vessel. Submission, holiness, and surrender prepare a life for service. The bush did not need to be special because the God in the bush was extraordinary. The same truth applies to believers today: God is not searching for impressive vessels as much as surrendered ones. What God claims, we yield; what we yield, He accepts; what He accepts, He fills; and what He fills, He uses. The question is not what kind of bush we are. The question is whether God has control of the bush.
