The Hill Where Justice and Mercy Met04a Isaiah 53:10-12 KJV This was our church service about (Tell your Story) Stephanie Thomas, Wayne Bownlow,Kevin Simmons, and Steven Ely tell their testimonies.Drawing from Acts 2:23 and Isaiah 53:10, the sermon emphasized that the death of Christ was not merely the result of human cruelty but the fulfillment of God’s predetermined plan to provide salvation for sinners. Though wicked hands carried out the crucifixion, the cross ultimately revealed the sovereign purpose of God to redeem humanity.First, the message explored the brutality of sin. The suffering and death of Jesus demonstrated the devastating seriousness of sin. The cross shows that sin is not a small mistake or moral weakness; it is a rebellion against a holy God that requires judgment. The pain, humiliation, and sacrifice of Christ reveal the true cost of sin and the depth of humanity’s need for redemption.Second, the sermon highlighted the majesty of substitution. Jesus did not merely die as a victim of injustice or as an example of sacrificial love. He died as the substitute for sinners. Isaiah foretold that the Lord would make His soul an offering for sin, meaning Christ willingly took upon Himself the punishment that humanity deserved. The cross is the great exchange—our guilt placed upon Him and His righteousness offered to us.The message concluded with a personal challenge: What does the cross demand of us? The cross calls every person to respond with repentance, faith, and surrender to the Savior who bore the penalty of sin. At Calvary, justice was satisfied and mercy was extended, offering salvation to all who believe in Jesus Christ.
