THE EXTRA SPARROW

person Pastor Darrell Bailey

THE EXTRA SPARROW. [GOD HASN’T FORGOTTEN YOU] Matthew 10:29–31; Luke 12:6–7 KJV God’s care reaches even the smallest and most overlooked—and that includes you. Jesus points to the sparrow, one of the cheapest and most common birds of His day. They were sold for almost nothing, and in Luke’s account, one was even thrown in “extra” with the purchase—seemingly worthless and easily forgotten. Yet Jesus declares that not a single sparrow is forgotten before God. Even the one that appeared to have no value still had Heaven’s attention. What is insignificant to man is still seen by God. What is overlooked by others is never forgotten by Him. What feels small and unnoticed in your life is fully known in Heaven, Jesus takes it even further by saying that the very hairs of your head are numbered, revealing not just awareness, but deep, personal involvement. God’s care is not distant or general—it is detailed, intentional, and constant. Because of that truth, the call is clear: “Fear ye not therefore…” You don’t have to live in fear, insecurity, or doubt about your worth. Your value is not determined by how others see you, but by how God sees you. The Heart of the Message. Even if you feel like the “extra sparrow”—overlooked, unimportant , and forgotten. God has. not forgotten you. He sees you, He knows you, and He cares for you more than you realize. And if He watches over sparrows, He is certainly watching over your life.
