The Crossroads Sportsman’s Gathering. Proverbs 12:27;Matthew 4:19 KJV Proverbs 12:27 teaches that God gives opportunities but expects responsibility, warning that a lazy person may begin the work—like hunting—but fails to finish it, wasting what was gained, while a diligent person treats God’s provision as precious, using it wisely and faithfully; spiritually, many hear God’s truth but never live it out, showing that spiritual laziness leads to wasted truth. In contrast, Matthew 4:19 reveals that following Jesus is a call to full surrender, not casual belief, where Christ Himself transforms ordinary people into useful servants and sends them on mission as “fishers of men,” requiring patience, persistence, and obedience. Together, these verses show that we are not to be spiritually passive but active—finishing what God starts in us, stewarding what He gives, and allowing Him to shape us for His purpose—because diligence prepares us for ministry and truly following Christ always leads to reaching others; in the end, God didn’t save us to sit, but to serve. The reward is God will send people into you life!!!!
