Lessons from the Crusader’s..

person Pastor Darrell Bailey

Lessons from the Crusader’s Road. Ephesians 6:13–18 (KJV)we journey through the spiritual battleground of the Christian life, drawing vivid lessons from both Scripture and the imagery of medieval crusaders who took up arms not just for territory, but for a cause they believed was divine.Rooted in Ephesians 6:13–18, the Apostle Paul challenges believers to “take unto you the whole Armour of God.” Like the crusaders of old who braved deserts, darkness, and deadly warfare, the Christian is also called to a battle — not with swords or shields, but with truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, and the Word of God.
I explored five critical lessons from this spiritual road:
1. Preparation Is Not Optional – No crusader left unarmored; likewise, no believer can survive the enemy’s assaults without God’s protection.2. Courage Flows from Conviction – Faith is our shield, and when it is grounded in Christ, it deflects the fiery darts of fear, doubt, and temptation.3. Victory Comes Through Vigilance – The helmet of salvation and sword of the Spirit are not for decoration but for daily defense and divine offense.4. Prayer Is the Warrior’s Lifeline – Paul ends not with armor, but with prayer, teaching us that our strength comes through ongoing communion with God.5. Stand, Don’t Retreat – The armor has no backplate; we’re called to stand, face forward, and hold our ground. My message challenges us to ask: Are we armed for the spiritual fight, or are we marching unprepared into battle? The road of the crusader is not for the faint-hearted, but for those who have pledged allegiance to the Cross.Do you need to be rearmed, refilled, and recommitted to the cause of Christ. Like a crusader.
