How to Get Past Your Jordan
How to Get Past Your Jordan. Joshua 3:1–17; 4:1-24 KJV [If God brought you to your Jordan, God can bring you through your Jordan.] Every one of us faces a Jordan River in life. Sometimes it is a problem we cannot solve, a burden we cannot carry, a decision we cannot make, or a challenge that seems impossible to overcome. The children of Israel stood before the flooded Jordan River with no bridge, no boat, and no way across. But what seemed impossible to them was not impossible for God. In this powerful passage, God teaches us three simple truths for getting past the Jordans in our own lives. First, we must receive God’s message. Before God performed the miracle, He gave His people instructions. Faith begins when we hear and obey the Word of God. Joshua told the people what God had said, and they prepared their hearts to follow Him. God still guides His people through His Word today. Second, we must expect God’s miracle. When the priests stepped into the Jordan carrying the Ark of the Covenant, God stopped the waters and made a way where there seemed to be no way. The miracle did not happen while they stood on the riverbank—it happened when they stepped out in faith. God often works when we trust Him and move forward in obedience. Third, we must remember God’s faithfulness. After crossing the Jordan, God commanded the people to build a memorial of twelve stones so future generations would remember what He had done. God’s blessings should never be forgotten. When we remember His faithfulness in the past, it strengthens our faith for the future.Listen to His voice, trust His power, and never forget His faithfulness. The same God who parted the Jordan River is still working.
