HOW TO GET HELP FROM HEAVEN Isa.40:28-31 Here’s truth for the days that often seem unkind and unfair: This world will pass away, it’s not all we have. As believers in Christ we can be assured that death, cancer, accidents, sickness, addiction, none of those things hold the final sting. For He conquered death on the cross, and because of His gift, we still have an eternity to look forward to. We may not understand everything about it, but we can be confident that because heaven is real, we can have hope for our future, and hope for our lives even now. Instead of praising the Lord, the nation of Israel was complaining to Him that He acted as though He did not know their situation or have any concern for their problems (v. 27; 49:14).Instead of seeing the open door, the Jews saw only the long road before them, and they complained that they did not have strength for the journey. God was asking them to do the impossible. But God knows how we feel and how we fear, and He is adequate to meet our every need. We can never obey God in our own strength, but we can always trust Him to provide the strength we need (Phil. 4:13). If we trust ourselves, we will faint and fall, but if we wait on the Lord by faith, we will receive strength for the journey. The word “wait” does not suggest that we sit around and do nothing. It means “to hope,” to look to God for all that we need (Isa. 26:3; 30:15). HOW TO GET HELP FROM HEAVEN I. The Weakness That Makes Prayer So Necessary.v.30 II. The Warrant That Makes Prayer A Possibility.v.28 III. The Waiting That Makes Prayer a Reality. V.31 We can’t work our way to heaven or claim to be without sin (1 John 1:8). Instead, we must humbly submit to God.
