Don’t look Back.Luke 9:62;Philippians 3:13–14;Genesis 19:17;Isaiah 43:18–19;Hebrews 12:1KJV A powerful Sunday School lesson centered on the truth that the Christian life is a forward-moving walk of faith, not a backward-looking life of regret, compromise, or divided loyalty. The lesson teaches that following Jesus requires total commitment and a heart fully surrendered to God. Just as a farmer cannot plow a straight row while constantly looking behind him, believers cannot effectively serve Christ while clinging to old sins, worldly comforts, past failures, or former lifestyles. The lesson repeatedly warns against becoming like Lot’s wife—physically leaving Sodom while still longing for it in the heart. Jesus calls His followers to stop looking back and to keep their eyes fixed on Him. The lesson also emphasizes that God specializes in giving His people a new beginning. Through Christ, believers become a “new creature” and are called to leave the past behind while pressing toward the prize of God’s high calling. Paul’s testimony in Philippians reminds Christians not to live in yesterday’s failures or successes but to keep reaching forward in spiritual growth, prayer, obedience, and endurance. The overall message is that God has a future greater than the past, but believers must trust Him enough to let go of what is behind them. “Don’t Look Back” challenges Christians to guard their hearts, remove distractions, run the race faithfully, and stay focused on Jesus until the finish line.
