2. The Doctrine of God
2. The Doctrine of God. Deut. 6:4;Job 37:16John 4:24 KJVThis lesson explores how the Bible reveals the identity and nature of God through three key areas:”If you could only use the Bible to describe who God is, how would you explain Him to someone?”I. The Nature of God.Scripture clearly affirms that God is one (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5) and is spirit (John 4:24). He is not a created being, but eternal and unique, without comparison or equal.II. The Attributes of God. God is all-knowing (Job 37:16), unchanging (Malachi 3:6), and holy (1 Peter 1:15–16). His holiness sets Him apart, revealing His moral perfection and purity. These attributes define God’s character and demonstrate why He alone is worthy of worship.III. The Work of God. The Bible reveals God’s work as:Creator (Genesis 1:1) Redeemer (John 3:16) Sustainer and Ruler (Colossians 1:17)This leads to the foundational Christian truth of the Trinity — one God in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. This doctrine is essential to biblical Christianity. Scriptures such as Isaiah 6:8 and Matthew 28:19 affirm the plural yet unified nature of God. The Trinity is not three gods or one God wearing different “masks,” but one God eternally existing in three distinct persons.
In understanding who God is through Scripture leads to reverence, worship, and assurance. As Paul expressed in 2 Corinthians 13:13, the believer experiences the grace of Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit — all three persons of the Trinity actively involved in the life of every Christian.
